Meet Gabby

Gabby Jimenez is an end-of-life educator, author, and founder of The Hospice Heart, offering online and in-person classes on compassionate end-of-life care. She felt drawn to hospice after caring for a dying friend; previously she managed commercial real estate and worked with OSHA. She stayed with him daily, witnessed the hospice team, and realized she needed to help others at the end of life. After his passing, she became a caregiver and later a hospice nurse. In 2019 she launched the Hospice Heart Facebook page for open end-of-life conversations, which grew dramatically during the pandemic and now serves a community of over 140,000 people who are dying, caring for someone who’s dying, grieving, or anticipating loss. Gabby supports medical aid in dying, noting that hospice and palliative care can help, but not always. Her latest book, Dignity Day, demystifies medical aid in dying. She reflects on mortality daily and remains grateful for life while accepting its end. For more, visit the Hospice Heart Facebook page, her website for classes and bookings, and her book available in print and digital formats.
